Since the departure of former Head Coach Mike Leach, Texas Tech has combined for a record of 33-30. Former Texas Tech quarterback Kliff Kingsbury was a very popular hire, and earned a contract extension after the first season in Lubbock. Last season was a disappointment after Texas Tech finished 8-5 in 2013. In 2013 Texas Tech started 7-0, but finished the year at 8-5. Last year they had their second losing season in 22 years, but this year they are returning 17 starters and will have a favorable schedule. The quarterback position will be key to the success in Lubbock this season, but things are pointing up in Kingsbury third season as head coach.
