The morning of Saturday, April 14th a large crowd gathered around the southern end of OU’s Memorial Stadium to watch the unveiling of Bob Stoops’ statue. The University of Oklahoma’s outgoing President David Boren, Athletic Director Joe Castiglione, and former OU head coach Bob Stoops all spoke to the crowd during the ceremony.
There were former coaches, and athletes in attendance as well as a couple thousand fans.
Sadly, David Boren fell ill just before Stoops’ statue was unveiled and had to be taken away by paramedics on a stretcher. Boren apparently suffered a minor stroke and was transported to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where he is recovering.
