Game Previews from The Animals

Matt Meyer: Heartbreaking and potentially consequential loss for the Sooners last Saturday in Columbia as Oklahoma fell to Missouri 30-23. OU is now 5-5 and needs to beat either Alabama or LSU to continue the country’s second longest bowl streak. Down 16-9, the Sooners scored two touchdowns to take a 23-16 lead, but in the final two minutes, the Tigers went 75 yards in 8 plays to tie the game, and then returned a Jackson Arnold fumble 17 yards for the winning score. Demoralizing. Embarrassing. Whatever adjectives or adverbs you want to use, feel free. OU lost the turnover battle 4-1. Arnold was awful, despite getting Deion Burks and Jalil Farooq back. The defense was pretty good, allowing only 203 yards until the game tying drive. When they needed a stop most, however, the defense didn’t force one, allowing a conversion of a 3rd and 16 to set up the tying score. Up next, the Crimson Tide come to Norman at 6:30 Saturday on ABC. Good luck dealing with QB Jalen Milroe, who showed that he can run it as well as he can throw it against LSU. Freshman WR Ryan Williams is a superstar at 17 years old, averaging 20 yards a catch. Alabama’s defense has been better of late, shutting out Missouri and only allowing 13 to LSU. This won’t be pretty. Alabama 38 Oklahoma 16
