OKLAHOMA CITY, Jan. 23, 2025 – Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was named a 2025 NBA All-Star starter, it was announced today by the NBA.
This marks the third career All-Star appearance for Gilgeous-Alexander and his second consecutive season as an All-Star starter.
In 42 games (all starts) this season, Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging a league-leading 32.0 points on 53.0% shooting to go along with 5.4 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 2.10 steals (second in the NBA) and 1.12 blocks in 34.2 minutes per game. He leads the NBA with 25 30-point games and last night Gilgeous-Alexander recorded a career-high 54 points during the Thunder’s victory over the Utah Jazz.
Gilgeous-Alexander is on pace to become the second player in NBA history to average 30-plus points on 50% shooting to go along with at least five rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block [Michael Jordan (1987-88 and 1990-91)].
Thus far this season, Gilgeous-Alexander has swept the Western Conference Player of the Month honors as he guided the Thunder to a 15-4 record during October/November and a 12-1 record in December.
Gilgeous-Alexander has led the Thunder to its best start in team history (36-7) and during the 2024-25 season, Oklahoma City has recorded a 15-game win streak and a current 12-game home win streak. The Thunder currently leads the NBA in net rating (12.5), defensive rating (103.4), steals (11.47), deflections (22.1) and points off turnovers (23.6).
The 2025 NBA All-Star Game in scheduled to take place in San Francisco on Feb. 16 at Chase Center. For the first time, the NBA All-Star Game will feature a mini-tournament with four teams and three games. Two teams will meet in one semifinal (Game 1), and the remaining two teams will meet in the other semifinal (Game 2). The winning teams from Game 1 and Game 2 will advance to face each other in the championship (Game 3). For each game, the winner will be the first team to reach or surpass 40 points.
