Knicks C Mitchell Robinson (ankle) to miss start of season

New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson will not be ready for the start of the season after undergoing offseason ankle surgery, SNY reported Monday.

Robinson, 26, is expected to return sometime in December or January, depending on his rehab, per the report.

He underwent a second surgery in May after suffering a stress injury to his surgically repaired left ankle in Game 1 of the second-round postseason series against the Indiana Pacers. He had missed 50 games after surgery in December.

In 31 games (21 starts) of his injury-marred sixth NBA season, Robinson averaged 5.6 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.1 blocks and a career-best 1.2 steals per game.

In 320 career games (196 starts), Robinson has averaged 8.0 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game. He was selected by the Knicks in the second round of the 2018 draft.
