Game Previews from The Animals
Matt Meyer: Sooners did what a team should do as a 31 point favorite, whipping Maine 59-14 on Saturday. Career day for Jovantae Barnes as the junior RB ran for 203 and 3 scores. Jackson Arnold was good in his second game back in the starting lineup, and the OU defense was solid if not spectacular against an outmanned bunch Black Bears. Horse of a different color this week as Oklahoma meets their old pal Missouri at 6:45 Saturday on Faurot Field. The longtime conference foes meet for the first time since 2011 with the Sooners needing one more win to qualify for a bowl and keep the country’s 2nd longest postseason streak in tact. The Tigers dominated a weak non conference schedule but have been underwhelming in victory and embarrassing in defeat once they began SEC play. Missouri is a slight favorite and while this is a winnable game for Oklahoma, I haven’t built up enough faith in the Sooners to pick them. Tigers 24 Sooners 20.
