Phillies C J.T. Realmuto exits due to knee injury

Philadelphia catcher J.T. Realmuto bruised his left knee and left the Phillies’ Friday game against the host Miami Marlins.

Realmuto got hurt fouling a second-inning pitch off his knee before delivering his second run-scoring single of the night. He stayed in the game until Garrett Stubbs replaced him as a pinch hitter with the Phillies holding a 7-0 lead in the fourth inning.

Philadelphia won 16-2 to maintain its 7 1/2-game lead in the National League East.

An injury to his right knee kept Realmuto sidelined from June 10-July 19.

Realmuto, 33, is batting .266 with a .322 on-base percentage, a .425 slugging percentage, 12 homers and 40 RBIs in 86 games this year.

In his past 13 games, Realmuto is 17-for-48 (.354) with four homers and 12 RBIs.
